A Today's risk budget card says $50.00 is left before the $50.00 daily limit. Why journal

Sound familiar?

Most traders lose track of what really happened. A journal fixes that, as long as it's quick enough to keep up.

You remember the big win and forget the six small losses.

Every trade lands in one place, so your stats count all of them, not just the ones you remember.

You can't tell which setup is actually paying you.

Tag your setups and mistakes, and the app shows what each one earned or cost you.

One bad afternoon undoes a good week.

Set a daily loss limit and see how much you can still lose today before you place the next trade.

Your broker statement shows numbers, not lessons.

Answer one question and grade each trade, so the lesson is written down while it's fresh.

Trading in many markets and the multiple watchlists feature is the best, I am able to track all important instruments in one place and check them based on priority.

    Daniel Brooks

Every Friday I import my MetaTrader 5 statement and the whole week lands in my journal in about a minute. No more typing trades in one by one.

I grade every trade from A to F after I close it. After a month it was clear that my C and D trades were the ones losing money, so now I skip those setups.

Features

Everything your trades can tell you, in one app

Log or import a trade, review it, and let the app do the maths. Here is what that looks like on your phone.

Quick add

Log a trade while you still remember why you took it

Pick the instrument, tap long or short and type your prices and size. Your result in dollars, percent and R appears as you type, with fees and swap already taken off, so you see the real number before you save.

  • Scaled in or took partials? Add every fill and the app averages them for you.
  • Tag the setup, the mistake and how you felt, so patterns show up later.
  • Attach a chart screenshot and mark it up with arrows and boxes.
  • Log missed and backtest trades without touching your live stats.
The Quick add screen logging a long AAPL swing trade: in at 301, out at 325, 50 shares, stop at 295 and $2 in fees. The result card already shows +$1,198.00, +7.96% and +4.0R before the trade is saved.

Import

Bring your trades in instead of typing them

Open a MetaTrader 4 or 5 statement, a CSV or an Excel file, and the app reads it right on your phone. You see a preview first, duplicates are flagged, and you can undo the whole import later if something looks off.

  • Sync Binance Spot, Binance Futures, Binance COIN-M, Bybit and Bitget.
  • Connections are read-only. The app can never place, change or cancel an order.
  • Your API keys stay on your phone and are never put into a backup.
  • Any broker's CSV works: match the columns once and the app remembers them.

The Import trades and broker screen. MetaTrader 5 and MetaTrader 4 take a statement or CSV. Binance Spot syncs with an API key or a file. Binance Futures, Binance COIN-M, Bybit and Bitget sync with an API key.

Calendar

See your month the way your account felt it

Every trading day turns green or red with its P&L and number of trades, and each week gets its own total. You spot the day that undid a good week, and the days you would have been better off not trading.

  • Green days, red days and trading days, counted for you.
  • Your biggest winning and losing day of the month, side by side.
  • A week view, a full-year heatmap and an image of your month to share.
The monthly calendar for September 2026, up $16,529.20. Each trading day is coloured green or red with its P&L and number of trades, and a column on the right totals each week. The highest loss of the month is -$885 and the highest profit +$12.2k. Below: 16 trading days, 30 trades, 11 green days and 5 red days.

Dashboard

Every number that matters, explained in a line

Win rate, profit factor, expectancy, average win and loss, streaks, run-up and drawdown sit on one screen, each with a short line that says what it means. Switch between dollars, R and percent, and between today, this week, this month, this year, all time or dates you pick.

  • See how this period compares with the one before.
  • Every fee and commission you've paid, added up.
  • Reorder or hide cards so the dashboard shows what you actually check.
The dashboard scrolled down to its stat tiles: win rate 40%, profit factor 1.72, expectancy +$97.86 per trade, average win and loss $582.89 and $225.49 with a payoff of 2.58, 30 trades over 16 trading days, a current streak of 1 loss, max run-up +$3,774.00, max drawdown -$1,494.80, 12 profitable trades that made $6,994.73 and 18 losing trades that lost $4,058.87.

Risk and discipline

Know how much you can still lose today

Set a daily loss limit for each account and the dashboard tells you how much room is left before you reach it. Add your own rules, like a maximum number of trades a day or losses in a row, and choose whether the app just logs a break, warns you, or interrupts you with a full-screen pause.

  • Separate accounts for live, demo and funded challenge trading, plus one combined view.
  • A plan for the day with a pre-market checklist.
  • Goals for P&L, R, green days and days journaled.

Review

Review each trade so the lesson sticks

After a trade, the app asks one pointed question based on what happened, such as whether it was a good trade that lost or a bad trade you shouldn't have taken. Then you grade your execution from A to F. Over a month, those grades show whether you are following your plan or just getting lucky.

  • Your pre-trade plan sits next to the result, with a flag if you moved your stop.
  • A daily rewind: what worked, what didn't and what to focus on tomorrow.
  • A weekly review that adds up what your mistakes cost you.
The Review screen for a long AAPL trade of 5 shares on Thursday 24 September that made +$250.00. It asks: What happened, and why? Would you take this exact trade again? If yes, what made it repeatable rather than lucky? The note reads: EMA fast setup all breakout at once with RSI support above 60, great setup in Daily and Weekly timeframe, screenshots attached. The execution is graded A on an A to F scale.

Reports

13 reports, each answering a question you actually ask

When the dashboard isn't enough, open Analytics and pick the question you want answered.

Every market you trade

Forex and metals, stocks, futures and index CFDs, crypto and options. Each instrument carries its own contract size, tick value and pip size, so a lot of EURUSD and a contract of MES are both counted correctly.

Every way you trade

Scalping, intraday, swing, positional or long term, plus any style you add yourself. Pick it with one tap as you log the trade.

How it works

A routine that takes minutes, not evenings

Journaling only helps if you keep doing it, so the app keeps every step short.

  1. 1

    Add your trades

Quick-add a trade in a few taps, import a statement or file, or connect your exchange.

  2. 2

    Review what happened

Answer the review question, grade your execution, and tag the setup and any mistake.

  3. 3

    Change what you do next

Once a week, read your calendar and reports. Keep what pays you, and drop what costs you.

Your data

Your journal stays on your phone

Your trading record is personal. You decide where it lives, who can open it and where your backup goes.

Stored on your device

The trade data you enter is stored on your phone and isn't sent to our servers or our partners' servers. There's no account to create.

Locked when you want it

Protect the app with a passcode or your phone's fingerprint or face unlock, and hide your balances when someone is looking over your shoulder.

One backup file, saved where you choose

Back up your whole journal, screenshots included, as a single file with an optional password. Keep it somewhere safe: without a backup, we can't recover your trades, and nobody can recover a forgotten backup password.

Your exchange keys stay put

API keys are kept on your phone only and are left out of every backup. On a new phone, you simply enter them again.

Take your data anywhere

Export every trade to CSV or Excel, share a single trade as a PDF, or build a full PDF report to print.

FAQ

Questions traders ask us

Is TradeJournalingApp free?

Yes, you can start for free. Logging trades, exchange sync, file import, trade reviews, rules, goals and 8 of the 13 reports are always free. A subscription adds the calculators, the advanced reports, backups, CSV and Excel export, and extra accounts.

Is there a free trial?

The yearly plan starts with a free trial where your app store offers one. On Android you can choose monthly, half-yearly or yearly. On iPhone you can choose weekly or yearly. You can cancel any time in your store's settings.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. TradeJournalingApp is available on iPhone and Android. On a tablet, the tabs move to a side rail so you get more room.

Do I need to create an account?

No. There's no sign-up and no login. Open the app, answer a few setup questions and log your first trade.

Where is my journal stored?

On your phone. The trade data you enter is stored on your device and isn't sent to our servers or our partners' servers. Reports, exports and backups are built on your phone too. Because of that, a backup file is the way to keep a safe copy.

Which exchanges can I connect?

Binance Spot, Binance Futures, Binance COIN-M, Bybit and Bitget. Once connected, new trades arrive on their own while the app is open, with fees and funding included.

Which brokers can I import from?

Any broker that gives you a CSV or Excel file. To make it easy, the app has step-by-step export guides for MetaTrader 5, MetaTrader 4, Binance, Interactive Brokers, Charles Schwab, Webull, NinjaTrader, Zerodha, Groww, Upstox, Angel One, Dhan, KuCoin and Coinbase.

Is my API key safe?

Your key is kept in your phone's secure storage. It's never part of a backup, and it's wiped when you disconnect. Connections only read your history and can never place, change or cancel an order. Each exchange has a step-by-step guide for creating a read-only key.

What does R mean?

R is your result measured against the risk you took. Buy 50 shares at 301 with a stop at 295 and you risk $300. Sell at 325 and keep $1,198 after fees, and the trade is +4.0R. R lets you compare trades of any size fairly.

Can I journal a prop firm account?

Yes. Mark the account as a prop-firm account and record its phase and profit target. The dashboard then shows the phase and how much of your daily loss limit is left today.

Which markets can I journal?

Forex, futures, crypto, stocks and options. Close to 100 instruments come ready with the right contract size and tick value. You can also search 11,000+ stocks across 67 exchanges, or add your own instrument.

I used the old Trading Journal app. What happens to my trades?

They come with you. Trades from the classic view appear in the new app automatically. On Android you can switch back to the classic view from the More tab whenever you like.

Does the app tell me what to buy or sell?

No. TradeJournalingApp helps you learn from your own trades. It gives no signals and no financial advice, so every decision stays yours.

Your trades, your decisions

TradeJournalingApp helps you learn from the trades you take. It gives no signals and no financial, investment, tax or trading advice, so every decision stays yours. Trading stocks, forex, futures, options or crypto carries real risk, including losing all the money you invest.

Your figures are only as accurate as the prices and files you give the app. Check them against your broker before you rely on them. The Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy explain this in full.
